Each sculpture is the outcome of film CATHARSIS:01 which documents the manipulation of clay as a metaphorical body. The clay is guided in response to physical pain: when I experience heaviness the clay is pushed from beneath, teared in response to sharpness, rolled upon itself when I feel a build up of pressure... The malleable nature of unfired clay allows for direct relationship between body and material, whilst the fragility of its fired state holds true to the body in pain.
